So, earlier, I mentioned going to see Silent Auction at their studio for their rehearsal party on Saturday. Yesterday, they opened for The Azoic at The Haunt in Ithaca, but I couldn't make it (Ithaca is about an hour and a half away from here, and poor Charles came down with a flu of some sort).

Brendan called me at about noon today to tell me about the show. He wanted me to be the first person he told about it.

"They liked us so much, we were invited to perform again next month."

"Awesome!"

"Guess when."

............... "oh my god."

"Guess who we're opening for, Fawn."

"OH MY GOD!!!"

Then about ten minutes of gushing and gleeing with delight was had, and then we made plans to make plans to go d'n'd or adventuring this week.
When I got off the phone, I ran into the bedroom and hoped Charles was awake. He was happy to hear the news, then went back to sleep.

Silent Auction is opening for Voltaire! April 26th! At The Haunt in Ithaca :D YES!!

I just got a reply from Chris at The Haunt in Ithaca:

Just got off the phone with Athan. Looks like Voltaire is confirmed for Sunday April 26th @ The Haunt. Not April 25. It will be the last night of his tour and his only show remotely close to CNY.
Keep an eye out for further details.

Chris

Woot! Voltaire is coming to Ithaca!!
diello: (Emilie Autumn)
Hey, Voltaire has Ithaca NY on his list for his FULL BAND TOUR! This is a rare event to see him play with the gang! And I'll tell you right now, it is a grand treat! They are all amazing!

But it is not set in stone...

What he needs from his fans is for us to sway our local clubs and promoters to book him.

He doesn't have a label anymore but any serious booking inquiries should go to Athan Maroulis at SepiaTone Booking.

Please please PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEE let's get this man back to our little spot on the map!

And for everyone else in the states:

So far here are the proposed dates for his full band tour. Cities with a club name after them are confirmed shows, the rest are up in the air. So if you see your city and it says TBA next to it, it wouldn't hurt if you leaned on your local clubs and promoters to book the show!

> APRIL 3rd SEATTLE, WA @ EL CORAZON
> APRIL 4th PORTLAND, OR (TBA)
> APRIL 6TH SACRAMENTO, CA (TBA)
> APRIL 7th SAN FRANCISCO, CA @ THE ELBO ROOM
> APRIL 9th LOS ANGELES, CA @ THE KNITTING FACTORY
> APRIL 10th SCOTTSDALE, AZ @ CLUB MARDI GRAS
> APRIL 11th EL PASO, TX (TBA)

Finally! After years of being a sickeningly cute couple, Voltaire and Jayme are now a sickeningly cute engaged couple! Yaaaay!!!

I love you guys!
diello: (Default)

Almost a year after it was shot, and almost a year of waiting, we finally have the full music video to Voltaire's song Happy Birthday (My Olde Friend)!!! It turned out splendidly, but I'm just barely in it... the most you can see of me is my arm :\
But it was so worth it... my cake is in there all lit up (and I'm told it was delicious, but it was devoured before I got the chance to verify).

Anyway, the video was shot by Jochen Schoberth of Etage Music in Germany and directed by Voltaire himself. Populated by 100 of his Gothy-Loli friends who were exclusively cast from right on his myspace page!

It was so much fun... I'm just out of camera-shot for most of the video, but I still hold that I had the best seat in the house. If I wasn't getting run over by a hand-made camera dolly, getting kicked by a rabbi preacher, or getting my face beat in by a guitar, I was getting a great view of Voltaire's ass, hahahaha ;)

Watch and sing along!

So I waited a week before posting about Voltaire's show in the spectacular Toronto...

We arrived in the afternoon and walked around Younge (and North Younge because we got on the train going the wrong way- silly me for thinking it went in a circle) before heading over to Queen West.  Of course, we went to Silver Snail, and I saw Neil Gaiman's and Gris Grimly's Dangerous Alphabet book!  I wanted it so bad, but I couldn't shell out the cash because I was on the hunt for a French gn called Clues.  It showed up on Amazon.ca soon after it was released in France, but it was nowhere to be found (I looked everywhere... except at Chapters, which we didn't have time for, sadly).

Then after a couple hours, we went back to the hotel and we had a quick nap before changing into our going-out clothes.  Then it was off to Savage Garden!

I dressed like this (petticoat courtesy of Gramma! and shoes courtesy of Emily).

Voltaire's girlfriend Jaymee thought it was awesome how I used my corset's garter straps to lift the black skirt in the front to show off the red beneath :)  She said "I'm stealing this idea".  I glowed.  I adore that girl.

I ran into Voltaire at the merch booth where he had a plethora of tshirts to sell, as well as his limited edition Chi-Chian HotWheels and his Maiden Voyage Tour posters.  He gave me a hug and asked me how I've been and he was happy to see me up here.  He gave me a free poster for coming all the way up from Rochester to see him :)
He had his top hat on top of a pile of shirts (he's never in his Edwardian garb before the show) and I asked if he was selling it.  I said I'd give him 5 bucks, and he said, "But I only paid a buck fifty for it."  "Really??" I asked.  "No, 400.  It's real beever fur, too.  Go ahead," he said as he held it up to his crotch. "Feel my beever."  And I did, blushing.  It was soft, and I was jealous.  "Feels just like mine," I replied with a wink.  Then I asked him for a picture.

The show was awesome.  Johnny Hollow performed first, and they ended it with my favourite JH song "Rasputin".  I absolutely love them (we came up to this same place last summer to see them).
Charles recorded most of the sho.  Votlaire even made a couple comments to me from on stage, as well as to Jaymee.  I took pictures (I tried a couple without flash, but they weren't having it... but no flash DID look good for Johnny Hollow).

After the show, I hung out with Jaymee the rest of the night and we caught up and talked about what we've been up to and about the video (which is not going to be released anytime soon because they can't get a hold of the footage! since Dancing Ferret closed its doors).

Then came the time for us to catch a ride back home.  We tried to get out of there in time to catch a train back, but we ended up walking and taking the trolly and bus.  But I got one more lovely picture before leaving.

I hope he'll have it in Toronto, because I don't think I'll have enough moolah to PayPal him the monies.
diello: (Hook fetish)

I haven't checked to confirm it (edit: confirmed), but Kitty, from Johnny Hollow emailed me after she saw that I had commented on Voltaire's botched Canadian tour that I would go if he came to Toronto.

She said Voltaire is playing with Johnny Hollow at Savage Garden (that's where I saw JH last year).

BEST NEWS EVER... well, not ever, but definitely of the day! We're going. The show will be on Thursday, 21 August.

Also good news, I will be able to attend Erica's annual picnic in the cemetery / birthday party :)

Also, my back is so sunburned that I was literally crying in pain. I bought a BIG aloe vera plant that I have been cutting up to slather on myself (with Boyfriend's help).

For those who didn't get a txt from me at 4am yesterday...

Voltaire gave me a stage smooch right smack on the lips... on purpose... in front of everyone!
He also got Brendan on stage with him. And deep-throated the poster I had him sign. And gave me a free official Voltaire poster. And groped my boobies after staring at then for a good 20 minutes (along with other people who were reading it). I wore the best shirt ever. Better than my John Stamos shirt!

And a further update will come with pictures sometime in the next couple days. Unless I die of happiness.

Charles and I got home at 6am. It was a torturous drive back, mainly because I don't like driving Rt. 81 at night.

So the shoot...

It was nothing like I imagined it would be like. I have had such awful experiences on sets that I just imagined the worst (as you may have read on my livejournal). I am so glad it went so well.

Charles was allowed in to help me cary the cake, and I saw the people who had already been there, and they were all in lolita clothes. "I'm so underdressed," I said to Charles, and just then Voltaire walked by and said "You're not underdressed. Don't worry."

So, after Charles left, I went and put my stuff in a corner and started wrapping up my fake gifts, sharing boxes and paper and tape with a girl next to me.

Then I looked for Voltaire again to see where his girlfriend Jamie was doing makeup and hair. He pointed the way, but there was a wait, so I waited. When she got to me (I was the last in line), I said "Go nuts. Do whatever you think will look okay on me," and she did a smashing job! It was almost exactly what I wanted to try to do myself (but didn't have the resources to do). She said I looked so cute and that she was really having fun with me because I was the only person who'd let her do whatever she wanted *blush* She made me feel really pretty :)

Then I went on to be in a scene. I got to hold a pocket goth (and got to keep it! yay!) and be front and center. I got hit a couple times by the wheelchair (used for the camera motion), and almost got kicked in the face by the Rabbi-Preist, and almost got hit in the face by Voltaire's guitar, foot, and *ahem* booty.

A few more scenes were done before the cake-baking contest. If you look at my pictures, you'll see mine (that says "happy birthday my old friend" on it) and the two winning cakes). Then he announced that we all get a prize for entering (a choice of one of his cds), and the winners got all his CDs. Also, each actor got a copy of his live CD :)

The last scene was taken in a couple different segments. There were a few groups of people in the first segment, and some extras that had to wait (me included) for the next segment. Then the last group was shot and while such was going on, V announced that everyone else could help themselves to cake. When the shot was done, he announced "That's a wrap!" and we all cheered. I went over to the cakes and mine was the only one that was totally gone! What? hehehe.

Then photo-ops and autographs were in order. I went over to Orville to get a picture of me feeding him cake, and others followed suit (and Jenn jumped right on my suggestion of someone going down on him).

Then I gave Voltaire HIS birthday present (late january) and a big ol' hug and went on my way.

Much happiness was had.

all the other photos are here but I think you need a myspace account to view them.

On the way to getting some domestic things for the apartment (I traded in some CDs at Record Archive for store credit, which I used to buy a bathroom sink set, and a tin of bandaids), and some video things for the video shoot (hair dye, wrapping paper, and sparkler candles), I also got Irvine Welsh's latest novel If You Liked School, You'll Love Work and Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things in trade paperback, and Bizenghast book 4 (while I still don't have book 3). I also got the latest issue of Serena Valentino's Nightmares and Fairytales and a special surprise... a new trade comic from Ted Naifeh's Courtney Crumrin series!! It's called Courtney Crumrin and the Fire Theif's Tale and it is about her first adventure in eastern Europe with her Uncle. And speaking of really good comics, I almost forgot. I also got Aaron A.'s latest comic Kimmi66 which was great and also quite sad.

Next on my list is Nightmares #22, and Courtney Crumrin and the Prince of Nowhere. The cover looks beautiful!

diello: (perfume)
I got cast in the video!!! Oh god, I have to finish the costume!?! I was just going to forget about it! Now I have to do double time! I don't even know where to start! I've never sewn this kind of material before, I don't even know how to make it look good. I don't even know if what I have so far will cover my huge ass! I'm fucked here. And I have to make some boxes into fake gifts because that's what I told him I'd do. Oh my google, I'm so nervous and excited and terrified and PACKING!! I'M PACKING! SHIT DUDE, I'M PACKING RIGHT NOW. I HAVE LIKE, 30 BOXES IN MY ROOM RIGHT NOW! I DON'T HAVE ROOM TO SPREAD OUT THIS OUTFIT AND SEW IT UP.

EDIT: And I just checked the cake contest post, and he picked me to bake a cake, too!

I'm doomed, aren't I?
diello: (laura palmer)
I asked some people for help with my dress for Voltaire's video shoot audition, but nobody came over, so the dress is not even half... started. I will not be going to Philadelphia to be in Voltaire's first music video. I'm kinda bummed, but then again, I would be wary of ruining the mystique of cool around Voltaire... if I worked with him, would I discover that he's not that amazing to be around? I recall a friend of my mom's who was a roadie for Tori Amos, who said that although she is amazing to her fans, she is a horrible bitch to work for. I don't want to experience anything like that. I was already a little disappointed in meeting Gregor (Voltaire's amazing violinist) for the first time at Dracula's Ball, Halloween '05. I was so excited until he started trying to cop a feel. It sort of ruined it for me. That's the risk you take when you meet your idols in person.

So instead of that, I am going to try Chuck Palahniuk's MySpace Top Friends Contest. It's not important to me if I'm on anyones' top friends list, but the contest sounds so cool that I just have to try. The contest is to make your default user picture be a clever representation of Chuck Palahniuk. Since I hacked up my wedding gown, I can pretty much nix the idea of posing in front of a thrashed car. Besides... everyone's going to do that. I have a plan that involves a jar of teeth.

Voltaire has made a call for people to be in his first official music video for a song off his mystery album with Dancing Ferret Records.

The video is being shot at Shampoo in Philadelphia. The dress code is antique, vaudeville, circus, EGL, Victorian, Cabaret, monacles and moustaches, and the like. No cyber-goths, no tshirt and jeans.

Charles and I will try our best to attend. We both have that day off. Oh yes, the day in question is 3 January.

Check out his MySpace blog right here!

I don't have an outfit yet, but I'm hoping to make one out of the two wedding gowns I've collected that are in my closet wasting space. This is a good opportunity for me to finally do something with them. Charles will probably be a dresden doll like he was at Art Walk.

I'm so excited about this. I would have started working on my outfit yesterday when I found out about this, but I am knee-high in homework.
