I might be the new Art Director for Cabbages and Kings literary magazine :D
I passed by their office yesterday and got called in by a couple people I had just recently met (one through Tony- my writing teacher, and another through my former comic book class). So I went in. I forgot that I said I'd probably pop into the meeting after I got out of my piano class (meeting is at 12, I get out at 12:30), but didn't get the chance. So there I was, in an awkward position of 'small-talk' zone, and I was handed the meeting notes and didn't get the chance to read through past the first line, which read "still need art director, someone who knows InDesign." I shouted, perhaps a little too gleefully, that I know InDesign, I love InDesign, and I have a degree in graphic design :D
They weren't sure if I was just saying that or not, but were totally pleased when I convinced them, and eagerly showed me the outline of the magazine, which I'll be laying out for print!
I'm totally excited that I'll finally get some use out of my degree, even if I won't be paid for it.

Hey there all you cool Rochesterians (or NEARLY rochesterians or Temporary Rochesterians),

It's that time again (time to spackle the den? to wear unwashed leiderhosen every single day for the rest of my life? No).

Time to mourn the anniversary of my wretched birth. :D

Saturday October 22nd at Vertex, I will be there celebrating my 24th lap around the sun. I will especially be suseptable to any poison you wish to shove down my throat so long as it contains no actual poison. So be there or be, um... somewhere else.

Also, buy a drink for Paul (haloless) for his birthday is the next day. Ignore that whole heartbreaking asshole thing. We're friends again.

Cover is $5 for 21 and over, ($3 for 21 and over after 11:30PM), $8 cover under 21 all night. Open Bar is 10:30 -11:30PM (Well Drinks).

Hope to see all you spooky people there dressed in your finest halloween styles.

Vertex is open 10pm-3am and is located at 169 N. Chestnut Street, Rochester, NY.

(to those of you on lj and not myspace, sorry for the late invite).

Emily and I didn't even know Ministry was in town. We must be slipping in our old age. We went to vertex. We were the only goth people there. Everyone else was all.... normal. And we took full advantage of open bar while we could.
Whoever was at the dj booth sucked. She played a bunch of crap off the Clueless soundtrack and just as we were wrapping up our convo about how crappy the music was, some dude we called Trumpet Guy approached us. He went on saying how she wasn't all bad because she played a lot of ska.
Oh... oh boy. Ska.

After the concert let out, a few cool people showed up and there was actually a bit of a crowd dancing after she finally started playing good music. I think another dj showed up or maybe she was just getting a feel for things because she's new, I don't know... But good music was played and they finally put on a movie instead of inuyasha. THEY PLAYED PARTY MONSTER!! That was golden. I have such a boner for McCully Culkin :)

Anyway, Brian got there and told us Dan (dangler) was having a party at his place. Why, I haven't seen Dan and Thary in ages, and I haven't been to their place in even longer and it will be so much more fun than vertex.

It was the ministry after-party. I don't know if they were there, but it was a mad fun party anyway and I got lots of pictures. Emily and I sat on the comfy couch while people came up to us saying how cute we were.

We had a time. And cake. And were not disappointed in the evening, even though vertex sucked. It had a good reason to suck. Everyone was at Dan's :D

Pictures coming soon. Very soon.

Went to pick up [livejournal.com profile] funshinekat at UofR, only to discover that she had been replaced with a ZOMBIE!!!! AAAAH!!! Or, eh... she looked kinda zombified. She was studying like a mad-woman, I guess. So we took pictures of her holding up a sign that said "HI PJ AND CINDY!!! I MISS YOU! <3 LAURA"

And I went off to Vertex and left the cute li'l scrumpet to rest.

Apparently, Eric, the doorman, moved? Now I have to carry my id with me when I go to the club :*(
He will be missed. A LOT!!

Sam and Eugene didn't make it out. I still had fun, though. PJ and Cindy were the first people I talked to (aside from a quick greeting with Xach, Mels, and Allen). Then, surprise! [livejournal.com profile] crimson_agony made it! I'm glad she had fun dancing the night away. I wasn't in a dancy mood for some reason. I danced with Brian to the Cure, and then went back outside.

I saw Matt (from old-school show) there, but I didn't get a chance to talk to him. I felt really bad, because I wanted to talk to him, and didn't see him the rest of the night. I also saw Dif, my darling!!! He is so squishable! Let's see, who else... Rachael, Ryan... I know there was someone else....

Anyway, after doing a bit of satisfactory mingling, I went off to a dark corner with Brian to chew the fat.

Then PJ and Cindy declaired they were going to Gitzi's for garbage plates. So I grabbed Sika and we headed off to Monroe Ave. PJ and I were the only ones that got plates, and poor poor Sika!!! She didn't get her food! And I forgot to pop over to 7-11 :(

Anyway, I had a really good time.

Saturday the 14th. Captain's log:

Job: If you wanna read about my first day, go ahead )

Party (the random clubs): I get back to Sam's after work and she's just woken up (mind you, it's about 7:30, 8p by now) and the duchess hasn't even peed yet (for those who don't know, the duchess is the dog). So I let her out and my feet are aching. Well, while I'm trying to make them feel better, I suggest we party for the holiday (friday the 13th, of course). So we make plans with her friend Katie (whom I haven't met before this point) and she shows up and we all get ready for Vertex.

Vertex is DEAD! There weren't too many more than ten people there! Brian was the only one I hung out with, but he was all hung up on this other girl tonight, so no booty call. So after our drink we leave for Muthers.

Muthers was PACKED! They were at full capacity that we had to wait for people to leave before we could go in. We went in, went to the deck area, stood for a while, tried to get a girl's number for Katie (a girl who turned out to be not available anyway), had a couple drinks and left for RJ's.

RJ's was deader than vertex. We had a drink, Katie ate some flowers that Sam bought for her, we rated some chicks, and then went over to Keys.

Keys was closed, but Dave works security there, so we hung out for a while. I saw Big Rob working there, too. Haven't seen him since my rocky days (actually, since this one party at Jay's house, I think). Dave and Sam thought it would be funny to try and watch this guy Drew drool all over me, and watch me crush-him-like-bug. Didn't go that far, since I was talking to Rob instead, hahaha.

Got a bunch of really fun pictures that will be appearing next week sometime, so keep an eye out.

I'm off like a prom dress!

I had a lot of fun. My party were kind of wet towels, though. I wish I could have gotten a ride home with someone else, but then again, they didn't know their way around the city. And damn, they sucked at listening to my directions. How hard is it to follow signs? Honestly! Anyway...

I saw a lot of wonderful people. First, I went to Daily Perks for some good poetry and to support my darling [livejournal.com profile] deluin, who won. I hope more people will show up next time, and who knows, I might even give it a go.

At rocky, I saw all my wonderful friends who live in Rochester and Bufallo and that I never ever get to see... You have no idea how much I miss all of you! No, really! If I didn't get caught so much, I'd have hitchhiked out to see you by now. I'm unhealthily lonely these days (save for my lovely Kelly visitations).

Thanks to all the lovely people who made me feel wonderful, loved, and beautiful last night (especially Charles, who hung out with me most of the night, catching up and hugging me). And if there's anyone who can get me to never smoke again, it's [livejournal.com profile] frequency ;) I never really noticed the taste until thismorning when I woke up and my mouth tasted like I'd been licking an ashtray. Blech!

Also, ANYONE WHO TALKS TO ALAN, TELL HIM I FORGOT TO GIVE HIM BACK HIS LIGHTER. oops!

So now Danielle (one of the aforementioned wet towels) wants to introduce me to her brother... or cousin... or brothercousin, in drunken overnight-ness. I'm all about drunken overnights, but not hookups. This party better not be for hookup purposes. For christsake, how do I get myself into these predicaments. I hate me.

End transmission.

It was an event, last night.

I took Stick to her first clubbing experience at Vertex. Saw lots of expected faces, a few unexpected faces, a few newly familiar faces, and missed some faces. I half expected Joe to be there, even though I knew he was moving to Maryland. Neither Bill or Sam were there. Oh well.

Stick is a fantastic dancer! She was rippin' up the dance floor something fierce!
Brian likes her, wishes she was older, and another guy was buying her drinks (soda, she's 18). I was doing a combination of dancing, smoking, and just hanging out downstairs and outside.

The guy buying Stick drinks is named Shaun. He's got the most beautiful face I've ever seen, by the way. He offered to take us out to breakfast and a paranormal. Which was a weird offer, so naturally, we said yes. We hopped into a complete stranger's car and headed to a dead end dirt road in Irondequoit, where one of the "Scary Stories (to tell in the dark- remember those books?)" took place. It was interesting. He kept demanding questions from us. Questions, comments concerns... Then we went to East Ridge Diner and ate breakfast.

Then Stick fell asleep at the table. We didn't leave until a quarter to 6. I felt bad because she stopped enjoying herself and the company of Shaun after a point. So he took us back to our car at Vertex and she slept the whole way home.

The end.

This morning, I got up at 10.30 to go to work. I wasn't too exhausted, even though I only got 3 hours. Thankfully, the scheduling got mixed up a bit and I only worked a couple hours and got to go home to nap before the dinner shift. And I am wasting my time here!!! UGH! Got a decent amount of tips for just two hours though :)

Sleep now.

PS: I GOT CERRA'S PACKAGE!!!! [livejournal.com profile] girl_thing rocks my world!!! I LOVE YOU!

This is it. I'm going back to State College in a few moments. I shall miss this place like the deserts miss the rain. mango.

So, Linsey and I went to Ulana's last night and we danced to the good dj, as we talked shit about the other goths like all good gothies do (this is so stereotypical, but I think it's true). I met this lonely barfly named Bill who was awesome to talk to. I stopped him as he was about to leave because he intrigued me. We pointed out some of the dancers we were watching. There was this cyber goth who danced to maybe, three songs, one being Sisters one being the Cure.

There was also this guy I called the Riverdancer. Bill and Linsey had their own nicknames for him, but I can't remember what they are right off. After we talked for a while, he walked us to his car, and we drove him home, since it was in the opposite direction. Um... was that all I was going to write about? Nothing else happened that night. Oh, we went to Wawa's for coffee and pretzels, then went home, listened to Cradle of Filth and Sisters of Mercy, and Sunday was filled with sleep, packing, and leaving. I shall miss everyone.

I'm in Philly and it's actually nice out. I hope the rest of halloween is like this. I'm hungry. The bus ride out to Philly was long and boring. And I was too bored to keep my eyes in focus on a book, so I slept. And I hit my head against the bottom of the window when the bus hit a bump. OUCH! Ah well. So I got there, met with Lola and Brian and we went out to "the diner" for fries where we discussed how they could have gotten me at King of Prussia and the trip would have been a bit cheaper, but that's alright. I'll remember that next time.

So we spent the night at Brian's place, where Brian was ripping my CDs (I KNEW I should have brought all of them. I will next time.) And the next day, we went to Shampoo. That place is nice. It reminded me a lot of Piranha, but the drinks were mad fucking expensive. I loved it there. They even have a designated mosh pit on the upper level. And I accidently hit Larry in the chest (not really accidentally) and had completely forgotten that he'd gotten his ribs cracked in the pit. I felt so bad... if I had the money, I would have bought him a drink. I did no drinking last night anyway. I was hoping some guy would buy me a drink, yet I would be obligated to spend the evening talking to him or dancing with him or something to that effect and the only guy that asked me for a drink was this creepy austrailian guy with no neck (not just no neck, no FUCKING neck) and a red face and he was fucking scarry. I didn't want to talk to him, so I didn't get a drink from him. If I'm going to pretend to be interested in some guy for the sake of a few drinks, I want them to NOT be creepy. Also there was this geeky looking kid that talked to me, stared at me, talked to me, stared at me, stared at me..... stared at me... sent his older brother's friend to talk to me and I was able to tell her I had a boyfriend and lived 300 miles away. And this guy called Poo Flinger (jimmy) apparently wanted me in the worst way. Why me?

Tonight is Dracula's Ball. I think we're going, but it's not for sure. And this costs 13 bucks (shampoo was 7). I had less than 50 bucks on me to begin with and what's worse is that this morning, I realized I'd left my atm card home (or at ryan's). Which sucks 10 kinds of ass!

So I no longer have money for food. Which is okay, because I don't eat much anyway, and I think I can manage.

Ah, well... club tomorrow, and maybe club saturday or party saturday...
