I still want to get down to my desired weight (which I am lowering season by season so as to seem realistic). I want to be a better student. And I want to be able to manage my down-time so I can get household things done while still being able to relax.

As for what tickles my fancy on this last day of posts?

January, 2009
It was the beginning of the Spring semester- where I started French, tried Physics, and rocked the Sci-Fi Lit. I was watching a lot of movies, doing a lot of art stuff, going to a lot of parties... I got 6 pages of my comic book laid out, but then decided to pull the whole thing and start over. And more on comics, I started collecting French ones, which are fantastic.

February
Dropped Physics, sadly, because of a terrible teacher. Failed to make it to Comic Con. Reconnected with some people from my past (namely Sean). Got Sizer-ized!!! And saw some more movies.

March
Got a 1" button maker, which is still big news, even though I haven't used it in a little while. Read a couple of Sci-fi books (2001 and Starship Troopers). Saw Twilight at the dirt theater, as well as other movies at better theaters. Had my copy of Neverwhere taken and lost forever by a good friend. Saw Silent Auction perform a couple times. Bought my first piece of Steampunk jewelry. And lost my precious sketchbook :(

April
VOLTAIRE! WITH HIS WHOLE BAND! And on top of that, one of my best friend's band opened for them! And I made buttons for V, and got to hang out with his lovely lady Jayme :) Also, I read a recreational book for the first time in ages (Crooked Little Vein). Began crafternoons with Tiffani and Aliza (creating things to sell at Tora-Con). Also, Tora-Con. Cake-decorating classes. Got a phone call from a fan! Weird :) SWINE FLU! HAHAHA!

May
Traded in my car for a bike. Toronto Comic Arts Festival in glorious TORONTO! Finished classes and finished my first comic book (which I still need to get online for all to see). Began my Homeless Saga. And got jilted from going to see Bella Morte, ROSS!

June
Tweeted some. Did makeup (and a bit of acting) for a zombie movie, which was super-fun. Started working on some digital illustrations. Made my first fondant cake (with more to follow)! Said goodbye to Minx Comics. Edited a movie script and did some voice work for the same film. Went to my first Rochester baseball game with Boyfriend, complete with hotdogs and ice cream and fireworks!

July
Got a new phone. Cleaned out the storage closet and made a table out of cardboard boxes (which as I type is taking weather abuse on the patio). Crafted a bit. Partied a lot. And helped organize the first production of Rocky Horror in Buffalo in about 6 years.

August
Dyed my hair. Partied a lot. Saw Harry Potter at midnight. Baked a 3-tier cake for the family reunion. Went to a couple Rocky shows (one in which I was crew) and a couple new clubs. Made some fairy wings. And assured everyone that the Marvel/Disney thing wasn't the end of the world.

September
Eggs dies (true blood)!!!!! Finished my Homeless Saga. Went to NYC to visit Jeff and see Stephen Colbert Live! And had a hell of a time adjusting to the Fall semester after so long off school.

October
Got sick, and, thanks to my awesome Voice Prof, discovered the Neti Pot. I got Sizer-ized again! Attended a fun pumpkin-carving party and carved a bitchin' pumpkin featuring Jack Skelington from The Nightmare Before Xmas. Made bentos. Made more fairy wings. Made pocket shrines. Had a failure of a booth at a craft fair in my home town. Made a birthday/wedding/halloween cake which turned out awesomely! Turned 28. Failed to go trick-or-treating :(

November
Had a date with Jeff to see Maroon 5. Lost my dear French Prof. Discovered Symphony of Science. Finished 99% of my holiday shopping BEFORE Black Friday. Had an uncomfortable Thanksgiving. Made bentos. Set up my x-mess tree.

December
Got 2 tattoos! Had an uncomfortable x-mess. Battled with the S word. Got a Theramin! Saw ThunderSmurfs. Started crafting some Steampunk jewelry :) Among other things.

(I began this yesterday, but didn't have time to finish before things at work got a little nuts)

Well, I have been offline for a little while, but I am back, and hopefully to stay. I've gone through a whole week of f-list journal entries (sans communities, sadly). It took a while, but I was glad to have caught up :)

Also, please note that Day 25 (today **yesterday, now**) is Hourly Comic Day, so I am working on a comic to depict my day in hourly detail, which I will hopefully post tomorrow or Wednesday (it's a total pipe dream to think I can post it today, but pipe dreams have been known to come true- especially when you've been playing Mario Bros games all weekend to the point where they infiltrate your dreams).

Day 25: My day in great detail (which will be today, and not the day it was supposed to be *note: the day it was supposed to be was the day my pants split, which I posted about*)

If the day started at midnight, then I began it by settling down with Boyfriend with some popcorn to watch Jeremy Irons and Domonique Swain portray dreamy Humbert Humbert and bratty Dolores Haze in the best book-to-movie I've ever seen, ever (EVER): Lolita.

Followed by bed.

If it began when I woke up, then it began when the alarm went off at 7am. Or maybe it began at 7:30 when I actually stopped hitting the Snooze button and got up. Since I only had a two hour day at school today, I let Boyfriend sleep in (at his request, since he usually drives me, and he didn't have to be anywhere in the morning anyway) and swiped his car to drive myself. I got to the building for my first class JUST as the 8am bell was ringing, and I somehow made it to the room before the Prof closed the door. Phew!
Comic book class was boring (I know, weird, right?). We mainly discussed the first three chapters of Scott McCloud's book Understanding Comics, which so far is extremely boring. I mean, REALLY boring.
Next, I had Music Appreciation with my dear Dr. Wise. That class was also a sleeper.
After that, I had to pop by Dr. Fisher's office to see if he got my email and see what I missed when I was absent from his class on Thursday. He told me an array of amazing things I missed, including how he laid down on his back and had a student stand on his chest while he sang in perfect pitch, tone, whatever. I would LOVE to have seen that! (**today, I tried to convince him he should do it again... maybe he will again someday**). We also briefly talked about some opera; I mentioned What's Opera Doc? which he didn't know about until I explained what I was talking about ;) I hope he'll bring it up sometime.

After that, I journeyed home and played Mario Brothers: Partners in Time on my DS (I was really stumped on how to defeat a certain enemy the night before, but then figured it out, but was too tired to play, so I picked it up today and kicked ass). Then took a nap before I had to go back to work.
Nothing exciting happened at work. But please see my split-pants entry for details if you want.
Then I came home. Passed out. The end.

Day 26: My week in great detail

is not worth noting... mostly because it has been a big ol' blur, since it's the first couple of weeks of school. Students a plenty, and most of them are having email problems, as well as the usual inability-to-think-for-themselves problems. I have a full schedule, so relaxing at home is hardly an option anymore. I barely had time to do laundry (I was up til 5am doing laundry and homework, and I'm starting to feel it now here at work. Ugh).

Day 27: My month in great detail

See above, repeat for a month.

Next entry will be my year in great detail... which should keep me from my studies and these students long enough to regain my sanity... right?

Day 21

What you will need:

2 Mini Ball Pans
1/2 Yellow cake mix, 1/4 cup butter, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup milk
red liquid food coloring
yellow liquid food coloring
3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 cinnamon stick
6-12 fresh peppermint leaves
12 whole almonds
One batch Buttercream Frosting

Ice cream or sorbet, optional
Raspberry sauce, optional

How to Make and Assemble:

1. You will only need 1/2 of a yellow cake mix to make 6 Peach Cakes. Mix according to package directions- 1/2 cake mix with 1/4 cup softened butter, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup milk, and 12 drops yellow food coloring. Divide evenly among the 12 greased mini rounds- about +1/4 cup batter. Bake in 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool 2 minutes in pan then remove to wire rack. If you have one pan this can be done in two shifts!

2. While cakes are baking, make the buttercream frosting and add about 12 drops of yellow food coloring to get a bright yellow. Set aside.

3. In two separate lidded containers, add 1/2 cup sugar and 12 drops yellow food coloring to one and 1/4 cup sugar and 6 drops red food coloring to the other. Cover each container and shake vigorously until the coloring is fully incorporated. If there is clumping, break up with a fork and continue shaking. You should have a lovely bright yellow and a nice deep pink.

4. Break the cinnamon stick into small stems by taking a pair of scissors and placing the point into the hollow center of the stick and cutting. You will get both big and small bits, use the prettier pieces.

5. Frost the flat side of six mini rounds, being sure to get the frosting very think along one edge. Plant an almond in the center (for the pit). Place another mini round on the frosting and press together forming a peach. Run your finger or a small spoon along the frosting to make an indentation that mimics the crease on a peach.

6. Dip each "cheek" of the peach into the pink sugar. I am calling each "fleshy" side of the thick portion of frosting the cheek. Then roll the rest of the peach in the yellow sugar without covering the pink portion. Roll the frosting portion in the yellow sugar as well.

7. At the top of each peach, place a piece of cinnamon stick and a peppermint leaf. Arrange in a pretty bowl or on a platter. Decorate with more mint sprigs if desired.

I gotta go with Threadbanger. They may not be the absolute best, number one stop for DIY, but they are definitely the coolest and most fun (they are also partners with Indy Mogul, the guys who show you how to make cool movies on a dime). They have a great community and lots of really fun videos that show you how to make the most out of your sewing and craft supplies :)

Um... I don't know what tickles my fancy right now. I had an idea of what to put here, but not anymore, so I'll just post this photo manipulation from a few years ago:
Through The Looking-Glass

Most people don't get it right off the bat, but it is a peculiar piece (the title is the give-away). Very photoshop'd ;) (of course, old fans of my journal will see it right off the bat and won't be fooled twice).

Day 19
Well, since I'm headed in that direction anyway, and am trying to whore myself off to a couple of friends in this area (right this minute, actually), I have to say, one of my talents is in Photoshop. I learned photoshop (and could actually teach it) years before I ever took a class for it. I particularly love doing photo manipulations and touch-ups :)

And of course, the song at the end of the episode with the dog (Futurama fans know what I mean, and it doesn't even matter that the first movie made it all better- it still makes me cry like a baby)

This is a really bad quality video, but watch anyway, if you can:

I haven't read fanfics since I was in high school, and it's been almost as long since I've written one.

There are only two that stick out in my mind (because I printed them out and may even still have them): One called "Loveless" which was actually very long for a fanfic from well over ten years ago (about 40 pages), which was about Final Fantasy VII's character Vincent, and the other was called Dress-Up, involving the five heroes from Gundam Wing.

I also read one that was a fanfic of the April Fool's prank that Adult Swim plays where the characters in the story are actually commenting about there suddenly being mustaches on their faces. But I never printed it or anything, so there's no proof I can find.

I do not mind 'slash' fics of any kind (I like the more humorous ones). And I do not mind "Mary-Sue"s so long as they're not too annoying. But I can't tell you which I prefer, since I haven't read enough of them to decide.

I have written three fanfics in my youth. One for Pet Shop of Horrors (a favourite manga of mine) and two for Harry Potter involving Snape (one, I must say, involved a correct prediction of his relationship with Lily). The Pet Shop one was in script form, when I was learning how to write scripts. I may have it printed off somewhere. It was about ten pages. The first Harry Potter one was around 60 pages (I got a little carried away), but was forever lost to a computer virus. The second one I never finished.

And you're a damn fool if you think I'd ever reproduce any of them for you. They were awful.

My favourite Mary Sue fanfic (involving Snape) in comic form:

Disco Bloodbath (a fabulous but true tale of murder in clubland), better known as Party Monster, by James St. James, is one of my all-time favourite books. It recounts the events leading up to Michael Alig's murder of the drug dealer Angel and the fabulous life of being young and addicted to glamor in New York City.

The style of writing is quirky as hell and highly influenced my own writing (in some respect).

I highly recommend this book, and I highly recommend that you watch the movie, too. They are both fabulous. And honestly, nobody but Seth Green (short of the hermit James St. James himself) could portray James St. James :) Hell, everyone in the movie were great choices, I think.

The first seven (7) people to respond to this post will get something made by me. It will be about or tailored to those seven who respond first.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.

What I create will be just for you.

It'll be done this year.

You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a mix tape. It may be fic, or a poem. I may draw or paint something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!

I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

Additional caveat: I reserve the right to make something for your kid(s) instead of you. :)

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well, if you expect me to do something for you!

PRESENTS FOR YOU:
