Children

I went to the annual Keeping Hope Strong benefit my friends Scott and Dusty run to raise funds for the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong Hospital. Their adorable son Mason was a NICU baby with collapsed lungs and all sorts of further problems. So Scott and Dusty spent a lot of time in the waiting room with other parents with sick babies. This whole thing started with Scott's donation of a comfortable couch for the waiting room (because having a reason to be in the hospital... it is most times worse on the parents than it is on the kids).

This year, I was actually able to bid in the live auction. I bid on the last two items- a bunch of art store certificates and things, and a bunch of Home Depot tool-kit things. I really REALLY wanted the art lot, but my friend Janine kept outbidding me (though for charity reasons, I should have kept trying to outbid her so she'd pay more money for the charity ;). She won, and it came with a bottle of wine with my name on it... literally. The wine was called Fawn, and she felt bad since it was like taking away something destined to be mine. She gave me the wine.

But I won the Home Depot lot... about 30 dollars more than it was even worth >_< And I was glad (especially glad that I had the money in my account to cover it after spending about $40 on booze and a tshirt). Oh, and I got three tshirts- one is a nice black KHS shirt Scott had made for the event that fits me perfectly. And the other two I won in a raffle drawing- they are too-big standard white Golisano shirts that might go under the knife if I can figure out something cool to do with them.

After the benefit, Charles and I went to visit Jeff for his last night on the east coast :(
We shot out to Irondequoit to kidnap one of his best friends Jen and took her with us to his house. We had a lot of fun. I will miss Jeff a lot. I'm glad I got to see him before he left.
Also, he gave me a very special gift... that copy of Neverwhere I let him borrow over a year ago and thought he lost forever and ever! I gave him a big kiss for that!

Time again for awesome pictures I've found over the internet lately:

I've never really liked Blythe too much, but this is just adorable and I really, really want it. Click to see all the awesome features of this doll
(and here is a Hellmira doll that is also quite cute)

Disney plans for creating an animated adventure of The Scarlet Letter...
just kidding, but check out the imagery :)

I went to a great party last night. Instead of going to Vertex (sorry for everyone who went and expected me to be there). Yes, I broke the Vertex-Halloween tradition.

Instead, I took Boyfriend to a party I was invited to by Meagan (she's the president of Sci-Fi club). So, instead of waiting in line half the night in order to pay 5 dollars and then pay for drinks all night, I did everything for free, and it wasn't retardedly crowded. I had a way amazing time, but paid for it like nobody's business this morning (I woke up at 3:45 PM!). I needed the extra sleep, because not only did I wake up with a huge hangover, I also got my period. It was nice of my uterus to not ruin the most important night of the year, though.

And now I have a LOT of cleaning to do, and do NaNoWriMo which starts today!

Pictures:

This was me two nights ago at Pearl (before I cut my hair, and yes, I swiped this picture illegally, hence the giant watermark).

And this is one of me and a bunch of people last week when I went to Miss Chimera's Parlour (here, we are all watching Trevor perform stand-up comedy)

I'm the one in the orange jacket and brown skirt

Oh yes, and yesterday afternoon, me and all my friends were in the costume contest as THE WHOLE SCOOBY DOO GANG. We made it into the top 15 finalists, but then got beat out by Achmed the dead terrorist in 3rd place (Scott- who isn't even a student anymore!), and (I don't know the other people who won) Lara Croft (from Tomb Raider) in 2nd place, and QUAIL MAN won first place (by a landslide- people were chanting for him, and it was a fantastic costume!)

No pictures of the gang yet.

I knew we wouldn't make it for tea, but to be fair, I don't think either of us could remember the wacky time schedule at La-Tea-Da.

Previous to going to the tea parlour, we stopped at Utter Clutter, a fantastic curiosity shop on Park Ave and I had a fantastic chat with Sarah (the boss lady), and Charles helped me purchase a sweet, very old hat (picture coming eventually).

So without tea, or food, we went over to Camille's for some yummy swiss scrambler breakfast wraps and fruit, then we walked over to Abbot's for a cone of chocolate chip mint custard (I normally hate going to Abbot's because I despise custard, but this was a nice flavour), and we ate it outside while listening to a fantastic French accordionist play some gorgeous tunes. I told him about Dreamland Faces, but he didn't get to go. Oh well, he has his own amazing sound.

Then we walked a little more, pet some dogs, and went home.

Retraction

I would like to partially retract my statement of 2007 being the worst year in history... although it probably is the worst year in history, I feel that I must point out some of the high points of the year, which include seeing Voltaire, meeting [livejournal.com profile] pax_athena in person, traveling (although, many bad things happened to me while doing so, at least I got out there), meeting new friends, meeting Crispin Glover twice, seeing Johnny Hollow and meeting Vincent Marcone, going to Toronto a few times, seeing my Grampa without the drowning of the rest of the family (by that I mean, if they were all there, too, I would have been invisible), discovering Boulder Coffee, meeting Drew Rausch and hanging out with Ross, trick-or-treating, finding boss Concord Demonia boots for 8 bucks, letters from friends, videogames, having my question published in my favourite magazine ImagineFX, getting a laptop, getting The Wallflower on DVD as well as completing my manga collection, completing my Palahniuk collection, getting my picture taken with a cardboard cutout of Stephen Colbert, getting a buttload of cash, eating a full basket of the hottest wings Buffalo Wild Wings has to offer, got Voltaire's newest album, saw Jelyll, saw Tin Man, Neil Gaiman + Panda, Neil Gaiman + Crispin Glover, Harry Potter!, my sister's voyerist former-friends getting busted, Nightmares and Fairytales new tales, Cat Soup, Advent Children, Amy Sedaris's book "I Like You", getting a mobile phone...

But the list of bad is still at least 5 times longer than this.

I got me some rad kicks at Goodwill... they're one size too small, but they were only 8 bucks! I NEEDED them!
You can't tell from the picture, but they are my favourite colour... blood red :)
