I hate the way pronouncing something slightly different makes a word completely different. I mean, sure, I don't want a load of sand in my after-dinner snack or be stranded on a giant banana cream pie, but it really makes learning languages difficult.

However, I found this difference quite funny:

囚人 "shuujin" means prisoner.
BUT…
主人 "shujin" means husband.

An obvious difference in spelling, but not pronunciation, whereas in English, the spelling of desert and dessert, as well as pronunciation, are not far off.

i don't know how they spelled it in the script, so i tried to reproduce their pronunciation as closely as possible ;}

there's a similar one to your example in spanish, that my ex huband used to get a kick out of...i think it's esposa and esposas or something...one means handcuffs and the other means spouse.....

at this point i might no go...for a variety of reasons, one of which is that the faire is having sever and serious issues and possibly changing dates and locations and shit.
also, i'm really, really broke.
but my feeling about the wicked faire is that anyoen who wants to can come, although only a couple of people will be coming officially. the tickets are fairly cheap, i think they were $15 or 20 for the whole weekend, so inexpensivce for a renfaire. and i had a few people from work interested in going, so i was gonna basically get a couple hotel rooms, and anyone who wants in is in.
assuming i go! if not, i'm sure matt would put you up!

Um? This raises questions.
A) Are you volintering me for something or is this a diffrent Matt? No that I mind helping a girl out, but I generaly perfer to know these thing ahead of time. Silly me actuly like to plan.
B) Was I saposed to get a room? I have not reserved a room. The last two Wicked events others took care of this and no one has told me diffrent this go around. Do I need to get a room? I figured at least one was resevered with the venodr slot.
C) Is this the correct place to have this dialoge?

i am assuming that various people, including you, will be going, and that, in the eventuality that i'm not one of them, you and amber and fawn can work out room arrangements.
no one has reserved a room, to the best of my knowledge...the event date and venue are both in question at this point, and pele has told jeff that, depending on the eventual date, she will not be there.
there are no rooms reserved with vendor slots, but i'm not reserving anything until i know where, when, and if ia m going!
um, would oyu prefer to conference call? i think it's far enough away that i'm not stressing over it yet...i'll prolly begin stressing about a week before, as usual ;}

Hm, It's begining to sound like none of us are going. Eliza and I exchanged a few emails, and I'm getting the imprestion there is little ethusasum for Wicked in the operable parts of Shavora right now. Oh well, I shouldn't be spending the money anyway. Maybe I'll see you agin some other time.
