I drew a comic yesterday. My first comic in about a year. My first extra personal comic, ever.

I know you can’t really read the text in the last panel (hey, I said in the first panel that I'm rusty). The last panel was on a separate sheet, and I didn't unify the width, for some reason, so I had to shrink it (the text was small to begin with, though). So here's what it says...

Things helping:
A sun lamp (happy light). Totally works! Whitechapel forum. I’ve made some true friends on Warren Ellis’s forum Whitechapel. And have some great fun too! Tossing and deleting photos and numbers that hurt to see (this includes social networks too). Making and keeping a daily calendar. Listening to podcasts while doing chores. Listening to Misfits while I’m crafting. Tea and meditation. Surprisingly. White [earl] grey with cream. Making this comic.
There are more things I wanted to include in this comic, but I decided to keep them out for use later. I liked making this comic, so I’m hoping to make more soon.

I made this only in pencil, very rough. I usually ink my comics. In future comics, I'll definitely ink.

I put this on my tumblr, as my 100th and final post until February, when I'm going to try to make most of my posts be My Art.

That was interesting to read, I especially liked the last panel with all the little pictures.

I hope 2015 is much better for the both of us!

Sun lamps really do help! If I did not have mine, I would probably hibernate through the winter.

Never give up on your art. There are always going to be critics, and people better than you. But the world would be a dismal place indeed if only the very best were allowed to express themselves. I get discouraged at my artwork too, but I still keep drawing every day.

Thanks. It was never a matter of other people being better than me, or being discouraged, that made me quit. It was an end to a 15 year relationship between me and a popular comic book artist, and I had become pretty embedded in that world, only to have every inch of it remind me of him, everyone I'd become friends with posted about him, and he was just everywhere. I had to step away and start over.

That sounds awful. I hope you can find more friends and your own niche. *hugs*

Slowly but surely, I'm finding some new friends who are artists and not connected to him in some way, and it's definitely helping :)
