So I signed onto LJ, and moments later, I got a message that says I've been nudged by [livejournal.com profile] sugar_elixir. Psychic!!! I had a blank entry waiting to be typed, but realized I had to write something up for work, which lasted the entire shift (and then started this late at night, and am now continuing at work the next day).

So the little going-ons of my life at the moment:

1) As I mentioned before, I had to write something up for work: A motherfucking justification letter. "To the powers that be: MCC has played a pivotal role in the growth of my career. I never imagined I would have to fucking justify my goddamn role here. If you assholes could get off your thrones for a minute and come down to see us lowly worker-bees in action on any given day, or *gasp* talk to us, then you'd see we're the fucking blood that pumps through this school. We keep the wheels greased. We are essentially more important than you." Of course, I sent a slightly edited version that ended up to be two pages, single-spaced, with no room for a signature (will have to size down the font).

2) I got my acceptance email for Voltaire's next NecroComicCon this September (so little time, omg) and I send my fee tomorrow. So my main focus for the duration of my summer is making things to sell. I have to hunt down some cheap top hats from the Halloween store. They may be cheap, but I make them fancy, and since they're larger than usual top hats, they are really popular with bigger customers, who fit them perfectly. I am really nervous. Not like, nervous about going or selling or whatever happens there, but nervous that I'm spreading myself a little thin lately and might not have the energy to sit down and make stuff.

3) I nearly doubled my hours at work to make up for the lack of preparation of everyone going on vacation at the same time. My boss went on paternity leave, my boss's boss went on vacation for two weeks, two of my co-workers are off til September, and I'm picking up the slack so that the incompetent student workers aren't all alone for huge chunks of the day. This has me coming in for an hour on some days (or coming back for an hour). It's okay, and I could definitely use the money to save for Voltaire Con.
On top of my increase in hours, Brian got a job washing dishes at my favourite vegan restaurant, and he gets out late at night, and so he's been sleeping in, so he's not at Java's early in the morning anymore, and basically, our schedules totally conflict. But I'm going over to his place for the first time tonight, and he's coming to my house on Sunday morning. We've reached the level of friendship where one friend (maybe more) thinks we're flirting, and another friend sees it as a genuine and deep connection.

4) I bought cloves off the internet. They're coming from Singapore, and they were pretty damn cheap, so I'm hoping they're the real deal. I miss real cloves. If they're the real thing, I'm going to be very happy. They should be arriving by month's end.

5) I wanna be punk again. Gothy-punky-whatever. I miss the fashion. I'll look adorable in my fishnets and shin-kickers on my pretty pink bike. I'm starting to get into wearing makeup again, and contacts (not every day). I can start by sewing some cool new skirts. I sewed a new work-skirt that is cute to wear outside work, too. I'll take a picture soon. I'll take photos of all my sewn skirts. I'm looking at some Japanese fashion magazines for inspiration. I still like most of the other fashions I've dived into in the past ten or so years, so I guess I'm just gonna be... me?

6) Writing again. Slowly but surely. I'm going to write a story about what would happen if I opened a door and I suddenly ended up in my 1998 self. I meant to start it at the beginning of the month, but then the Internet got involved. I'll try again as soon as I clear a little bit off my plate (I've got some party/event plans, two molding & castings, learning to embroider, and a mask project). I'll have to write only at work, though, because home time has to be spent making wares to sell.

7) Watching Wayward Pines, and the show pisses me off in a lot of places. The writing is not great, and they refrigerated my favourite character in episode 2.

8) [crickets chirping]

9) The dumb is growing in the student population here.

10) That's probably it.
