Yesterday: First day of school

The Short Story: Spent the morning discussing what the class is about and what we want to get out of the class and how we intend to do that. Boring.

German: Very cool. My teacher, Frau Hildegarde Klein-Bodenheimer is fantastic and I can already tell this class will be oriented around creativity. We were separated into groups, and one girl in my group had already taken German in high school and has most of her family in Germany, so she's just taking the class to stay brushed up on the language, I guess.

Yoga: The teacher is a bit tight for being a yoga instructor. At the end of class, she told us to roll up our mats and put them away, but was still talking, and got kinda mad at people moving around so much and sternly said she'd tell us when it's time to leave as people tried to get up to put their mats away (I guess mats away = leaving). We have to keep a journal with specific properties... which she doesn't check and doesn't grade.
Anyway, we need to always have a journal, a pen, water, and socks with us for class, and to wear yoga-friendly clothes. And we're going to be learning Sanskrit words and have quizzes on what we learn... odd.

On the way home, Boyfriend and I stopped at the apartment office to deal with me getting on the lease. We found out what we had to do, and then checked the mail, where we found the postie. So we stopped to talk with him about my mail situation, and I said I'll be getting on the lease tomorrow (we didn't have time to do this, so maybe thursday) and what do I have to do to get on the mailbox again? He explained everything in great detail, but kept it interesting, and then the conversation led to war stories and air shows and lots of fascinating stuff, which would have been more fascinating if I didn't have to pee so badly. Anyway, I got mail that day. It pays to be on good terms with the postie, I suppose. And now we can say "Hey Larry" when we see him, like they do on sitcoms.

Today: Second day of classes

Stage Makeup: So awesome! Lots of friendly people in there. The teacher's great. I made a friend, Carley, who works at Record Archive (I recognized her by her neon yellow hair- when she said where she worked, I said, I KNEW there couldn't be TWO girls with highlighter hair in this city). Also, I found out that in the second half of the course, we will be learning how to make masks! And some of our masks will be used in a children's production called A Year With Frog And Toad (or something like that). And we get course credits for that, and course credits for being involved in the drama productions. I will definitely be joining Drama Club this year. I've never been in a school club before.

Piano: The piano teacher is the same guy who taught Boyfriend and his mother. Small world. I started a ruckus when I mentioned my instrumental experience involved the musical saw. Several people wanted to know more and some even asked if I could bring it in. My face must have been so red.

Japanese: I was late! I knew exactly where I was, then I blew it by going to get some coffee and going outside to enjoy it (there's very little mobile phone reception indoors, so I had to go out to txt people). MCC is a freaking maze! I went the wrong way twice, and then took the wrong stairs to the third floor of the wrong building and finally, after about ten minutes, I made it, and grabbed the last chair in the center of the room... I'm awful :(
The girl I sat next to is fresh from high school and hugely into anime (so thank goodness I have someone to practice with who is familiar with pronunciation). I also switched text books with her, because she had some parts that were printed upside down (!) and I love getting books like that. We got to write down book, music, movie and whatnot suggestions for the teacher to consider for class, and we practiced a basic greeting. Unfortunately, she said that we will be taking about 2 or 3 months to learn Kana, and I already know half of it (and can learn the other half in a day or two- but still haven't gotten around to doing yet). So this will be my 'mickey mouse' class.

And then home... where I find that my ear is bleeding.
That can't be good.
