Coffee

I'm not a coffee snob. I think all the different kinds of coffee and coffee culture are really interesting, but I'm not about to dive into it so hardcore as actual coffee snobs (although, a friend I met last winter did write and illustrate a book called "Know Your Coffee" that I've been meaning to get). I don't mind coffee snobs either, as long as they stick to their "actually" conversation-starters, and not "of course you would think it's good" starter (yeah, that totally happens - RUDE). Education, not insults!

Anyway, Saturday, I went to Parkleigh to get my mom a birthday card, and I wandered into the amazingly-scented coffee room, and had to get a sample of the flavour-of-the-day: Orange Vanilla. Got a tiny cup, the woman next to me got a tiny cup. I poured cream in to cool it off enough and cut the bitterness while the other woman loaded hers with sugar.

I swooned. Oh man, you guys, it was so good! It tasted like orange sherbet or an orange creamcicle, only coffee!

The woman next to me scoffed, and said it just tastes like every coffee she's ever tried.

Well, lady, you have a quarter cup, and you put in as much sugar as you would for two regular cups. Maybe don't put so much sugar in it, otherwise, all you'll taste is sugar.

(Mind, I used to always put tonnes of sugar in my coffee. Even with flavoured creamers - I liked my coffee to taste like coffee cake. I'm glad I got out of that habit. But I never got flavoured coffee and expected it to taste like that flavour with all that sugar in it)

It was so good, I bought half a pound of beans. I made a cup the next morning, and used the coffee grounds as an exfoliating caffeinated body scrub in the shower today. So invigorating!
