Lists

I don't know why I feel like listing my accomplishments today. I hardly have the energy for LJ (no energy to look through the Flist; sorry guys).

♥ Worked overtime today, and will for the next two weeks. I filled out my timesheet, which includes last week and this. The amount of hours I clocked had me gleefully happy, and I'm majorly looking forward to that deposit into my account.

♥ Came home to the living room, which I forgot I cleaned, rearranged, and vacuumed. It made me feel really good and relaxed, which I never feel when I come home from a long workday.

♥ Caught up on podcasts. Have discovered a large amount of new ones. My current list: Sawbones (ridiculous ways we used to cure people), Oh No Ross & Carrie (experiencing/debunking fringe science), Futility Closet (quirky and curious, unsolved history etc, and lateral puzzles), Radio Free Burrito (Wil Wheaton's stream of consciousness), You Are Not So Smart (self delusion and logical fallacies in science, philosophy, politics, and cookies), Make It Then Tell Everybody (interviews with artists - chiefly comic)
Wow, this list is super long now. Wrapping up (ask if you're curious): Stuff Mom Never Told You, The Truth, Dead Authors, Pod F. Tompkast, Wits, This American Life, Getting On with James Urbaniak.
And the old favourites: Thrilling Adventure Hour, Welcome to Night Vale, The Moth, HP Podcraft, Voice Acting Mastery.

♥ Finished an art and a fan art (copic marker pieces). I resolved to draw more portraits and fan arts in copic markers (and brown paper), and I have a set of pictures to reference.

♥ Finished one table (put it together, it's functional, but not yet stained). I have it in the living room now. Next step is buying stains and finishes, and experimenting on the scraps.

♥ Relatedly, I've decided that February, I'll stop using my new tumblr for chiefly reblogs, and start using it for my art. The table and copic art that I've finished are queued up to post on 1 & 2 February.

Speaking on the new tumblr...

♥ Moving On is another resolution I'm working on. I've deleted/thrown away photos of me and Ross, and, instead of deleting people who remind me of him from my tumblr, deviantart, and twitter, I've just deleted/abandoned those old accounts, and created new ones. I still don't know much what to do with my new twitter, though. It makes me a little sad to come to these new accounts, but not as sad as it makes me feel to go to the other ones and see Ross and all the friends I made through him who post about him, and barely talk to me anymore... I've also decided to ignore any further texts from that "Friend". She texted me her schedule today, insinuating we can coordinate our schedules to hang out. Didn't actually say she wanted to hang out, it was literally just a text with her schedule. Delete.

A friend in Toronto and I had a conversation about my Clean Break. It made me really feel good, because I have been feeling pretty friendless lately, and it's nice to know someone truly still cares about me.

It's a small-knit community, being an illustrator/comicker, so it's hard to avoid him, but the Clean Break will work, I hope (I have run into two people who still talk to me about Ross, but it's minimally invasive). Thankfully, I am still part of a separate community of artists who seem to have no close connection to Ross, which helps.

A person I met while boothing at Voltaire's Wicked last February confessed in comic form that she and her best friend broke up the same way Ross and I did - it was the other person's decision, and she was blindsided. Just like my situation. And she's come to the same conclusion, to delete and move on. I'm sad for her, and for me, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one this has happened to. That this happens to people sometimes.

So I guess that's progress.

Oh god, what else...

♥ Practiced violin today for the first time in a few days (winter practice is so trying, because I have to keep it in the case during winter to save it from the lack of humidity, so I can't just keep it out, all ready to go like I can in summer). Am taking two weeks off from lessons to recover from the holidays. Need to remember to keep my nails trim, because practice is SO much easier when I can properly press the strings down.

♥ Oh, and I'm 2 books ahead of my 30 book challenge for the year. I just barely made it last year, and I'm hoping to change that this year, and maybe even blast that number out of the park.

Here's one of the arts I mentioned:
