Saw Snowpiercer and am definitely seeing it again (probably this weekend). My favourite characters were Song and Go, who have played Father/Daughter before. This film is over two hours of resistance and rebellion, but it is so action packed, so absolutely varied, that the time breezes by. Each train car played out like its own level of a videogame.
Chris Evans plays NOT CHRIS EVANS. I say this because, even though I knew he was starring in it, I didn't even recognize him until halfway through the movie.

This movie was like Hunger Games on a train, but worlds better. This movie will wash away the filth of the first Hunger Games movie. This movie is a fucking piece of art! I'm actually really glad it wasn't in Korean, as I thought it would be (though it would have been absolutely no problem for me). This greatly increases who's going to see the film. Man, if I had a dime for every person I met who hates to see movies with subtitles... sheesh.
I've since looked up Le Transperceneige, the graphic novel that's the basis for the film. I haven't gotten to reading it yet (I don't have time for translating right now), but it appears barely related, aside from the underlying plot (but the film changed it for the better, or at least made it its own thing).

Wednesday, I got a text at work from Jeff, who had been in town for a week, but had no time to visit me. He catches the MegaBus back to NYC whenever he comes up, and the bus stop is a block away from where I work, so he always invites me to wait at the stop with him. Usually, his mother drives him out, though. That puts a strain on things, since I sincerely despise her. You'll never meet a more hateful person, and she actually believes she can hide it by being nice in polite company. I am a nice person, so I am not hateful toward her, but I will give any excuse not to be in her company for too long. Last time, I had to practically claw my way away from her (after Jeff got on the bus, she asked to take me to lunch - NOPE, GOTTA GET BACK TO WORK, WHICH IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, GOTTA KEEP WALKING TO LOSE WEIGHT, I DON'T RIDE IN CARS IN THE SUMMER, I AM CONTAGIOUS, I AM MEETING MY BOSS, I JUST ATE...). This time I decided to leave before the bus got there. He had both parents this time, and it was about to rain - I said I'm meeting my brother, right there. I pointed to a far corner and ran. I got caught in a quick downpour, but it was worth it. Before I left, I got a few good pictures of me and Jeff. Finally. Been trying to get a decent photo of us for years.

The Future(tm) for the rest of the month: Shakespeare in the Park tonight (A Midsummer Night's Dream) with Ron and Jackie. Violin lesson tomorrow night. Also a party tomorrow night at my mother's house. A charity event at Lovin' Cup on Monday (which I will either not attend or only attend for a short time, as it is an excessive boozy event). Gogol Bordello show on the 26th.
