SPX semi-recap
Sep. 21st, 2012 02:16 pmFun times at SPX were had by many. We laughed, we cried (well, maybe only I cried, because upon arrival, my uterus decided to spite me), we got lost…
I tagged along with Ross and Nick and they are two of the best traveling companions in the whole wide world. THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Seriously, how many other people will play 20 Questions for close to 4 hours?
I made a few new friends, and met some really cool people.
We watched Say Yes To The Dress every night, and wandered about the area around the hotel in the middle of the night. Found a playground. Found an open door that leads to an indoor pool (which promptly locked upon my exit- damn). And saw two very sad Chocolate Fountains (though, I don’t care what you say, chocolate on cantaloup was pretty good. Can’t knock it til you try it).
And I snored loud enough to throw Ross out of bed and onto the floor. Way to go, nostrils.
I got a bunch of cool ashcans and ugh, a couple of racist ones (from Jim8ball, holy shit. I swear I wouldn’t have if I’d thoroughly read through them, but mostly I was looking for gifts to bring home).
More about the trip (and 2 X-Men episodes) at A Podcast With Ross And Nick (and Fawn).
Most importantly, this trip gave me a new spark of life to start trying to get back into working on my comics. I got to ask people about their process, about their start, and their big break, and their fanbase, and I started to feel better about where I am in my art life, because they were there once, too. And these people inspired me to just motherfucking do it! Do it and I’ll start getting better. But I won’t be as good as I’ll be in the future without having made the terrible stuff first.
So I’m just gonna do it. I’m gonna finish stuff, and post it, no matter how it looks (well, I’ll at least try to make it look good).
So be on the lookout within the next couple of months.
But fuck perspective >:(
