After several years of trying to learn just one alphabet of Japanese, always trying to translate each syllable into its sound as it comes along, flipping useless flashcards one after the next, I have finally learned hiragana! I used this flashcard game to learn the letters, and this game to practice spelling words. Next on the list is reading the book The Inch-High Samurai, given to me by the lovely
pax_athena and then I'm going to learn katakana, and then I'm going to try my hand at some dreaded kanji. What I really need now is some kids books that have kanji characters with the hiragana written above them.
