The Death of Animatic Attack

From September through March, on the Audioshocker, I hosted an animation podcast alongside Nick (Audioshocker owner) and Justique (his amazing lady) called ANIMATIC ATTACK. It began with discussing a show we all fell for, The Legend of Korra (season 2), as well as an animated feature film (we even had a contest to win an advanced copy of Miyazaki's From Up on Poppy Hill. It also included a lot of incest. We coincidentally discussed incest in just about every episode (sometimes the actual subject, sometimes in passing).

Though this is my first time hosting a podcast, it's not my first time on the Audioshocker in general. I have guested on a few episodes of A Podcast With Ross and Nick, which later became A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick (on which I've also guested). Ross and Nick discussed episodes of the original X-Men animation, along with some random film, and Kaylie and Nick discussed episodes of ALF, as well as random films (most notably, though, the films of David DeCoteau, who makes porn and children's movies and awful stuff in between, all set in the same exact house. ALL of them).

Aside from Korra, we also watched From Up on Poppy Hill, La Leyenda de la Llorona, ParaNorman, Persepolis, Heman & Shera: the Secret of the Sword, and Jack et La Mécanique du Coeur. Other series watched were Welcome to the NKH, Koi Kaze, HammerMan, and The Critic (a surprising amount of incest in some of these).

What we do when we discuss shows and films is watch them a day or so beforehand, and take screencaps, which we share on our Tumblr accounts. I loved taking screencaps of Legend of Korra! Especially in the spirit world, the Wan episodes, and of Verrick and Eska!

I want to share my favourites, but I also want to share the links to the rest of the screencaps, because it's gonna be SO hard to just pick a few.

here we go! )

But alas, the Audioshocker is being put to rest, and so every podcast hosted will have their last hurrah by this weekend. Personally, I'm hoping for a couple of reunion episodes down the road.

You cannot kill self-made gods.

Saturday

Yesterday started with an annoyance. I usually go in to school with Charles so I can abuse the double-sided colour printer, so I can print some comic books and whatnot... but there was another guy in there today... idiot! He's been there for three years and doesn't know that you're not supposed to hand-feed the printer to print 2-sided (the computer will tell it to do that if you set it up). Moron >:( Plus, he kept jamming the printer, which I kept unjamming, so he could jam it up again! He almost took a freaking blade to it, and I yelled at him. Fucking imbecile!

Enough about that, I eventually went into the next room (which I thought was locked) to print.

Next, I hung out at home for a little bit. Cleaned a tad, surfed the net. Charles went to a Maya workshop, mostly because he needs to prove his worth in his 3D Animation class.

Then when he came home, we realized that we had not missed the Silent Auction rehearsal party, so we went to that. One of my best mates Brendan is the drummer :) I got to see Erica and Troy, and some other familiar faces whose names I can't remember, and of course Terri and Jason (the two leads).

Then we left early to meet up with Charles's brother Jeff, to go see Let The Right One In, because he didn't get to see it the first time, and I invited Tiffani, because I knew she wanted to see it, too. On the way to the theater, I got a call from Mister Creazil, inviting me to a last minute party at her place starting at 8, to which I said I'd probably stop by, but had other plans (I didn't end up going :( But I will next time!) So the four of us watched, then hung out afterwards... we went to Jeramiah's for food and drinks and chatted for a few hours :)

Then I threatened Jeff for losing my copy of Neverwhere, and we all said our goodbyes and we went to bed.

Random synapses spark

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALAN RICKMAN. May the fangirls lay off for a little while ;)

Next, people need to stop calling me today (and tomorrow)*. I have to read Starship Troopers by Monday and am only almost halfway through.
*(but txts are okay)*

Also, people from the past have been popping up over the weekend.

Someone I knew from artconspiracy.com IM'd me, and we talked for a good long time (a conversation that was perhaps the most intelligent and entertaining one I'd had in a long time).

Also, Arick... freaking, Zabrina's ex, Arick, sent me a message on MySpace about my skull masks (he has that SFX book, too). I sent him a reply, then realized who he was, and sent him a second reply asking how he was doing, and that I hadn't seen him in nearly ten years. Then MySpace fucked up and I closed the browser, not really caring whether that second message got to him or not.

And lastly, Sean! Oh Sean, Sean, Sean. I finally found Sean via IM. We talked briefly about not much. How he's doing, what he's doing, and when the last time he went out was. Then I invited him out to Java's cafe (Friday). Charles and I go there sometimes to work on stuff for school, and I spread some bunny fliers and posters around (damn, though. I ran out of fliers last night and didn't even THINK to make more when I had the chance today).
So anyway, Sean came in. He hadn't changed much. I hadn't either. It'd been several years since I last saw him. I maybe saw him once, soon after Zabrina left. I missed him, even though he infuriated me sometimes... he didn't this time. We had a nice chat. He told me about what he does and told me some funny stories about previous jobs. It was really nice. And then it was time to go.

I did get a picture, though, and it will be up just as soon as I finish this book.

Crap. I have Japanese and French homework, too. It never ends!

I went to Blockbuster to rent a couple of movies, and a girl passed by me. She was skinny with really long hair and I thought it was an old friend... the smell that hit me when she passed was the same, too. I kept looking as she browsed through the aisles, and finally, she looked back at me and recognized me!

Michelle Baritot! Holy shit. We used to refer to each other as "The other smart person in my summer school English class." That's where we first met, and after Josh died, I had nothing left until my sister invited me out to this party house (24-hour party people)... and I met Matt Baritot, one of the most important people in my life, and we talked all night long... and I discovered that he and Michelle were siblings. Goodness. I haven't talked about Matt in ages.

Anyway, she's living right around here, and she told me that Matt got married!!

My first love. The person who wouldn't drunkenly sleep with me because he loved me. He LOVED me. This guy who could barely hold down a relationship... he's married now. So odd to think about.

So we exchanged numbers and I continued my checkout.

Oh, the rentals... I rented House (the movie with the demons, not the show with the doctor) and The Sandlot. Two movies I cherished in my childhood.

Slightly more random than previous episodes...

Bad:
Terry Pratchett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He's only 59.
2007... be fucking over already! This is the worst year in history.

Education:
Katakana is extremely difficult for me to learn. I tried the flash cards (link in a previous entry) but was sucking like my second date depends on it and gave up for the day (I was stalling from homework, anyway). It sucks that I can't read katakana because there's so much of it on Myspace Japan. I mean, I am certainly good at guessing my way around, and am learning some new kanji and am recognizing a few kana, but it's a pain.

I ended up with a 40 question test in Anatomy to make up, a 70 question Pharm test that I stayed up all night finishing, and my final for Pharm, a take-home, thankfully, and due Tuesday, is 150 questions. Plus, I need to do 4 majour projects, as they count for 40% of my grade (but I think I mentioned this already).

Movies:
Hellboy II is coming. I suck for not having seen the first movie yet. I need to see it soon.
Stardust is coming to DVD soon. I'm excited. I really loved it, though it was a tad different from the book.
I finally saw Sin City. Charles bought it on a whim from CompUSA and we had it for weeks before finally sitting down to watch it. Charles, naturally, fell asleep near the end. I loved the movie very much.
Somehow, I managed to get Madagascar sent to me from Columbia House, and I don't know why. However, since it was sent to Mr. F Valentine, I feel no guilt in ripping them off by ordering a tonne of other DVDs which I hope will be here soon.

Events:
Today (going on as we speak, actually) is Nicholas Gurewich's book signing for his Dark Horse hardcover collection of PBF comics called The Trial of Colonel Sweeto and other stories.
Tomorrow (Friday) is his publishing party / gallery opening at Boulder Coffee Co on the corner of Alexander and S. Clinton. You'll find me there. I think it starts at 8, but Charles and I will be there earlier for a good place to sit.
Saturday is Brendan's Vertex birthday party where I'll also be.
And if I remember correctly, Cindy and PJ will be at Vertex on the 20th.
Oh yeah, and Christmas, Rhuss's birthday, and New Year's Eve are somewhere in there, too.

Lastly, please notice that I am using my mood icon thingies for the first time in, like, a year.

But it's a miracle that this one grew back.

Happy Birthday Paul!

To celebrate Paul's first late birthday, I'm going to Jay's Diner, to where many of our friends will join. It is also Brendan and Erica's 4 year anniversary, as well as my birthday tomorrow.

In other news, I have walking pneumonia. I've been suffering chills mostly, and fevers at night. My constant cough has been totally dry. I've been nauseous but not in pain, except for headaches brought on by the coughing. I get dizzy when I go outside in the sun, which sucks, because the sun has always been so good to me. This morning, I started hacking up shit. Mom wanted me to stay home, but I FEEL fine! Other than the nausea and headaches, I don't hurt like I would if I had a cold or flu, and my throat doesn't hurt unless I cough too much, which, the cough is becoming less frequent. I cough about once every 5 minutes now, when it was once every 30 seconds or minute or so.

That's about it. I'm hungry (for the first time in days).

elskan min

I forgot to announce last time:

WELCOME BACK TO LIFE [livejournal.com profile] blackdaisies!! She has finally recovered and is back home. The the thought that she didn't go through anything at all, yet was on the brink of death, is a strange concept. She fell asleep, and woke up weeks later feeling fine. My card to her was returned in the mail, but I'll still send it to her.

My letter to [livejournal.com profile] vashsbitch was also returned to me. I haven't gotten a letter from Thom yet. And I have yet to write my letter to Chuck Palahniuk. Not to mention I haven't even started trying to write a novel for National Novel Writing Month. Lots of writing needs to be done. And it's so fucking cold in the computer room. I want my laptop fixed!

I tried to see [livejournal.com profile] happymachines yesterday, but failed because I showed up after he'd left to go see a picture. Next time I go to Rochester, it will be to see you.

I dreamed I had sex with one of my best friends. This is bad. I thought it really happened when I woke up. I'm glad it didn't. I think.

Jason fed me yesterday :) Mmmmm taco bell. And I borrowed Excel Saga 2 and Fritz the Cat. Anyway, I spent the night. The zim marathon was cool. We all hit the hay early (except Jason who stayed up til 4 playing some online game). I also let Noel borrow a stack of books from my library. She was excited about Choke after I told her a bit about it. And she let me borrow a book called Bodily Fluids.

Oh also: [livejournal.com profile] gaffeizil's latest song is awesome and pretty.

Mourning the survival of 23 harsh trips around the sun...

Dad just called me. That was kinda unexpected, but I hoped for it anyway. He sang me happy birthday, hahaha.
Kelly took me out last night so she could be the first to witness my old-ageness, as she put it. We went to Wegmans and got retro candy (ring pops and candy necklaces) and then went to Denny's. And then to the park. Oh yeah, we also got PUMPKINS!!! We are going to carve them as soon as I update and put my clothes on. I should do that before the pizza gets here.
Nichole and mum got me a little bag of goodies that included a fairy pillowcase and matching fairy notebook, a japanese paper lantern, and a tin of candies that says "your soul is mine and I'll take some candy too."
Yay!
And tonight, we see The Grudge, and I have to call Brian to see if he wants to go too. Still no word on which theater we're going to.
Cheers!

PS: who's seen that movie (not the grudge)?

I had a spectacular time with [livejournal.com profile] funshinekat at Milestones and Spot coffee, even though [livejournal.com profile] deluin wasn't there. We laughed, we danced, we drank stuff, we met another Fawn... we had, as Rayanne from My So-Called Life would call it, a time.

And we want a SuperCast reunion. Waddaya think?

non-events and talking to lots of people

Today was rainy, so no post office. I'll probably need my stamp money for bus fair tomorrow anyway.

I met a guy named Matt who was in the beginning of Filthy 3. He found me on b-indie. We talked for a good long time. He's really awesome. He makes movies in Ohio. He wants me to be in one :)

He also mentioned The Twisted Nightmare Weekend which is a horror convention in Ohio. I can't seem to get a ride. Anyone willing to give a girl a lift and back? I'll hopefully have the money to help out with gas. My car sure won't make it.

I also talked to [livejournal.com profile] willy_mags who has a livejournal apparently! I met him at Ulana's in Philly a couple years ago with [livejournal.com profile] lolahead. He's a peach.

So I'm thinking, since Twisted is in September, I'll try mightily to get a lift (I'll probably be able to crash at my cousin's) or I'll just give [livejournal.com profile] sporks_rule a surprise visit and hit Dragon*Con :) He can help me distract Audrey so I can seduce [livejournal.com profile] voltairenyc, mwahahahahahaha!!!

Oh, and Neil Gaiman's son Mike is really really hot.

He just turned 21.

today

Sam made me tell mum about it.
I went to the funeral. I hung out on the outside of the room and the people that wanted to see me come did. But I didn't talk to anyone and I left at the first sign that it was over.

Spiderman 2 is playing at the theater down the road. I'm pissing myself in excitement!

I'm suppose to go to Rochester to hang out with Beanie and Sam. Beanie's in Greece. My car won't make that and I fucking HATE Greece more than anything. Hopefully she'll be able to get a ride out, otherwise, my car's going to suffer!

C sharp

This should be the last post of the evening...

I've been listening to Takako Minekawa, Bent and a couple other bands all day. And some Sigur Ros.
I really miss [livejournal.com profile] gaffeizil Rhuss and am writing him a letter (well, okay, I've taken a break).
I talked to Sam's brother on Y! all day, too. He chats and chats. I don't mind.
I'm wearing my John Stamos tshirt.
Dad's still here. It worries me a bit. Weirds me out.
And when I was feeling at my worst, Chris made me feel better by talking about the meeting
feeling better about my body )

I'm very tired today. I had sad times. My car is in pain, and I'm about to sleep in my own bed alone.

I recently got off the line with Chris Seaver. I'm going out to meet him and his woman tonight. I'm damn excited. The role he wrote me into sounds fucking fun. TeenApe aborts my baby and proceeds to violate me and I'm loving every minute of it. We take a family portrait real quick before he drop-kicks it. Talk about 'kickables.'

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] insecuritytape, the original meaning of this post is to say that I remembered about ten minutes after I got off the phone with you that I won't be online tonight and might not be coming home for a few days (or a couple, hopefully). I need to do a bit of traveling out to the city and spend the night or something. Drink applejuice. <3

And I guess I'll be getting a ride to [livejournal.com profile] mayhem613's party tomorrow. Hmm...

End transmission.

Two Dimentional Garbage Plates

2-D invited me out for garbage plates, his treat. What fun! He wore Gary's Nikki Six wig and imitated Bubba Ho-whatever. Then this slutty little girl and her popular little friends walked in IN HER FUCKING UNDERPANTS. She didn't even have a nice ass! What the shittle. Anyway, we all had fun. It was me, 2-d, Sheena, Gary and Nichole. Then we drove through the car wash. It was entertaining. 2-d had control of the windows, so I was victemized a couple times.

Then home.

Earlier today, [livejournal.com profile] wcsfallen and I went to the thrift store in Canandaigua which had some bitchin' dresses, none of which fit me because I'm a fat tub of lard. Speaking of, 2-d just did shots of butter packets tonight. It was nasty. But not as nasty as when I hollowed out my bread and filled it with my garbage... and then squeezed it out to make it look like I was eating out a hot piece of ass!
